"California's Forgotten Children" is an award-winning feature documentary that follows a diverse group of resilient survivors who have overcome commercial sexual exploitation of children and are changing the world by ensuring no child is forgotten. This film gives viewers the tools to combat this epidemic and empowers survivors on their path to freedom. Featuring stories from leaders in the movement such as Time 100 Most Influential People Withelma "T" Ortiz Walker Pettigrew, attorney Carissa Phelps, academic scholar Dr. Minh Dang, activist Leah Albright-Byrd, therapist Nikolaos Al-Khadra, and educator Rachel Thomas, M. Ed. The film supports the stories of survivors with current statistics and perspectives of sexual exploitation from professionals in social services, law enforcement, advocates, and child welfare.
PANELISTS
Eileen Dong is the Executive Director of Hope Pyx Global, a non-profit organization that supports survivors of gender-based violence. She is a Subject Matter Expert, and sits on various human trafficking councils and task forces across the nation. She trains law enforcement officers and victim service providers on human trafficking and gender-based violence. Eileen is the pre-eminent lived experience Asian American woman leading inclusive, equitable, evidence-based, and data-driven policymaking as well as bridging the gap on culturally and linguistically sensitive care. Her vision is a world free from violence, exploitation, and slavery.

Gameelah Mohammed is a Disaster Program Manager for the Red Cross and was a Victim Program Specialist for Valley Crisis Center, and a United Nations Association USA member. She assists and educates local law enforcement, government agencies, and community partners to foster collaboration in the fight against human trafficking.

Josie Feemster is a passion-filled human trafficking activist whose story of resilience has inspired many. Having overcome incredible adversity on her journey toward living empowered, Josephine knew she was destined to make an impact on the lives of others who shared her experiences.

Dr. Deborah Getz is committed to supporting the professionalization of youth work in the U.S. She led the development of the IU APHS major and minor in youth development, actively engages in efforts to support national certification through the Child and Youth Care Certification Board and work to support awareness of issues critical to protecting child safety. Deb has engaged in curriculum development, design, delivery, and evaluation on a wide variety of topics in youth development, child protection, personal financial education, and community engagement.

CeMarr Peterson, the Minnesota Human Trafficking Activist Safe Harbor Division Director supporting sexually exploited youth and adults, culturally-specific populations, and community engagement through advocacy efforts in relation to Safe Harbor, Juvenile Justice, Homelessness/Housing, Juvenile Corrections; Youth Engagement/Skill Development, Trauma informed and skilled in Crisis Intervention/Prevention, De-escalation, Program Development and Design, Leadership Development, Motivational Interviewing, Community Trainings and Facilitation, Direct Service, etc.

Lady Tee Thomson Co-Chair of UNA-USA Women Affinity Group, International Gender Equality Advocate, a Human Trafficking Fellow, and a Global Goals Ambassador. She is also a founder of AgroBiz.Org, a larger agricultural organization. Thompson facilitates USA & foreign investment, cooperative and international economic development. Her work has been recognized by former US president Obama. She has received many national and international awards.

Kate Mallory is a United Nations Association, USA Human Rights Co-Chair, UN Youth Advisor, and on the Board of Directors for the 100 Million Campaign to keep youth safe, free and educated away from violence. She works closely with non-profits, NGOs, IGOs, and other organizations dedicated to advocating for humanitarian causes.

Melody C. Miller is an Emmy Award-Winning filmmaker, United Nations Association, USA member, and director of "California’s Forgotten Children" documentary. Melody's unique combination of filmmaking and human rights advocacy has made her films a powerful voice for change. She inspires others with her commitment to using the power of storytelling to promote understanding, empathy, and action.

Chaiti Banerjee is a STEM Advocate and technology leader dedicated to education and empowerment of Women and Children worldwide. She is a United Nations Association USA member and speaker for peace and justice.
